About The Artist

Bella Foster, born in 2001 in Christchurch, New Zealand lives and practices her art in Wellington from a shared studio space in Newtown. Best known for her vibrant retro inspired diptych photography prints taken on her travels throughout California, Bella is inspired heavily by the designs and colours of the 1960s and 1970s. In addition to photography, Bella also creates colourful and graphic acrylic paintings with similar subject matter inspired by mid-century interiors, exteriors and Californian scenes.

Bella has exhibited her artwork through The NZ Art Show since she was 14 years old, earning her the title of their youngest ever exhibitor. She has also shown work in a group exhibition at Studio Toru in Eastbourne and Horner Corner in Newtown as well as solo shows through Ventana Gallery in Martinborough and Deluxe Cafe in Wellington.

Bella’s work continues to evolve and grow as she explores different parts of the world, although her travels will always bring her back to California, with Palm Springs and Los Angeles being prominent influences in both her photography and painting work. Whilst pursuing her art career, Bella also runs her own online vintage clothing business called Planet Caravan and dabbles in other mediums such as ceramics and punch needle embroidery.
